Senior Attorney: Agricultural Lending
This position will be with Our CLIENT’s realty advisory division. This DIVISION is the real estate advisory unit of THE PARENT COMPANY, an international pension, insurance and financial services conglomerate based in Europe. This DIVISION is headquartered in the central United States, where THE PARENT COMPANY employs approximate 2,800 people.
This DIVISION is part of US THE PARENT COMPANY Asset Management, which conducts US investment and asset management activities for THE PARENT COMPANY affiliates and third party clients. Asset classes include public bonds, private placements, commercial and agricultural mortgage loans, and alternative investments. Significant funds are invested in nearly every fixed income and real estate sector. The THE PARENT COMPANY Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary U.S. offices are in Cedar Rapids and Baltimore.
The person in this position should have experience as a practicing attorney with demonstrated knowledge of agricultural mortgage lending and servicing. Commercial lending experience would also be valuable. The position works under the supervision of DIVISION’s business unit general counsel. Responsibilities include agricultural loan origination, servicing, and special servicing, and some commercial lending work, if needed.
SKILLS: Job-Related Qualifications: * Ability to conduct and to supervise closings and servicing tasks for a major institutional agricultural loan portfolio. *Ability to handle heavy workload in an efficient manner, including through efficient use of paralegals and outside counsel. Demonstrate project tracking and prioritization to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities, including status reporting and appropriate follow up. *Demonstrate sound business judgment in combination with legal analysis. *Ability to work successfully in a team environment, with sensitivity to the needs and concerns of various customers. *Travel occasionally required. *Strong written and oral communication skills. *Ability to understand information technology and to apply new technology to improve processes.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE JD required. 5-8 years transactional legal experience required. 2-5 years experience in agricultural real estate lending preferred.
