JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Senior Vice President of Business Development
Reports:

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily management and leadership of internal/external sales and business development activities. As a key member of the senior management team, the position is responsible for acheving quarterly sales opportunity quotas while managing their departmental budget. The position directs sales staff activities to ensure retention and expansion of sales to clients. Employs organizational vision and leadership to develop, direct, coordinate and manage all departmental activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Implement and refine existing sales cycle methodology to consistently monitor high quality sales standards through a hands-on approach that drive sales and revenue results as it relates to the Company’s suite of services.

· Partner with senior management to prepare and implement department sales plan that incorporates key issues and targets to ensure alignment with overall strategic business plan and desired revenue/gross profit goals.

· Partner with senior management to develop and implement a strategy for growth and national account penetration. Identify industry vertical markets and a sales program to support business development into those verticals.

· Effectively roll-out sales strategies and training to motivate team and create consistent performance that enables them to identify and develop suitable sales opportunities to achieve growth targets.

· Provide disciplined analysis standards and metrics to monitor and ensure the outcome of budgeted sales and revenue performance for department.

· Regularly manage the sales plan, providing quarterly updates, revisions and corrective actions as necessary to ensure achievement of business and revenue objectives.

· Partner with senior management to develop and implement strategies for expanding the Company's client base while ensuring that sales team maintains and develops key client relationships.

· Manage the overall brand awareness, marketing and market research efforts for the Company to ensure effective market penetration.

· Manage companywide marketing and market research efforts and execute research and development of strategies and plans which identify market opportunities, market size and desired marketing programs to support penetration of desired markets.

· Lead, manage, evaluate and develop a team of highly motivated and competent sales professionals to ensure target revenue goals are met or exceeded with a special focus on creating a team-oriented culture. Employ a hands-on, “roll-up your sleeves” approach in motivating and developing staff to achieve target sales goals.

· Manage and maintain department operating budgets and effectively oversee expense controls.

· Oversee departmental company policies and procedures as a member of management.

· Present a professional image as a representative of the company.


OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:

· Maintain and develop corporate image and reputation via participation in professional societies and activities related to our industry and protect and develop the Company’s brands.


· Sell client’s list of services which include but are not limited to:

  • Preconstruction Services/Estimating

  • IPD (integrated project delivery) and BIM (Building Information Modeling)

  • Survey - Menemsha Site Solutions

  • General Construction - Tenant Improvement /Renovations and Ground Up

  • Design and As-Builts

  • Owner's Representation for Program Roll Outs

 

· Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

· Proven expertise and experience in developing and leading successful sales organizations.

· Extensive experience working within team selling environments and a demonstrated ability to achieve desired results.

· Technical skills in strategic planning, business and market development and market research and planning.

· Ability to develop and implement business-winning sales strategies that achieve organizational goals and contribute to profits and revenue.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

15+ years of progressive, hands-on sales leadership experience with a clear track record of successfully leading a sales team, growing volume and profitability and demonstrated in-depth sales techniques and financial principles. Other relevant experience includes successful P&L management, strategic business development and strong operational skills. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or finance is required and a Master’s degree is highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General office working environment. Moderate travel may be required.

Our client has given us some very specific guidelines on this particular search and we must follow them to the letter.

This position is designed to be the lead driver of a sales and marketing team. Meaning, this position is not responsible for sales calls but responsible for training the team, forecasting the market sectors to be in and analyzing all potential deals that the team generates. The client has to have someone that is able to sell, and more importantly, direct a staff to sell multiple service lines. The right candidate must have a strong and verifiable background in selling multiple service lines to clients.

The right candidate must be able to develop a sales strategy with the CEO, implement it and oversee (4) VPs of Outside Business Development, (4) In-house sales reps, (1) Marketing assistant and (1) Account Manager.

We are looking for a large corporate background that would like to work in a more entreprunerial shop that is growing despite the market.
