Locally based Heidner Properties has acquired The Arboretum of South Barrington in South Barrington, IL. The 484,000-square-foot outdoor shopping center had been the subject of a foreclosure suit against its previous owner, a venture of Starwood Capital Group, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.

“Heidner Properties is proud to have added The Arboretum of South Barrington to our portfolio” said Rick Heidner, president of Heidner Properties. “The Arboretum will be our flagship property, and we are currently developing plans to enhance the already fantastic mix of dining, entertainment and retail.”

The Heidner family is committed to optimizing the success of The Arboretum of South Barrington by strongly enhancing the center’s current offerings. Plans include center-wide capital improvements, beautification projects, securing new and exclusive retail options and expanding the community programming.

Coinciding with the acquisition, a new Star Cinema Grill backfilled a location that was shuttered during the pandemic.
