The site was once the historic Goodall Wooten House, an 1898 mansion just north of downtown Austin. The mansion is still front and center, and will remain the same, but the new hotel owners have plans to add some structures behind it to increase the number of hotel rooms. The hotel currently has just 47 rooms and suites, but is looking at raising that number to 213 and putting in 172 below-grade parking spots.

The hotel owner, Rex LLC, took over the historic house last year and now is ready to invest $100 million in a robust expansion plan. Besides adding hotel rooms, the owners want to add a fine dining restaurant, a cigar and scotch bar and a basement wine bar. Plans also may include a rooftop garden.
