The Bella Terra mixed-use development in Huntington Beach, CA has earned the city’s approval to add 300 apartments to the project by 2026. According to the Orange County Register, owners PGIM and DJM Capital will knock down the Burlington Coat Factory store and build a multi-level structure with residential units and ground-level retail space.
The shopping center, once known as the Huntington Beach Mall, was redeveloped in 2019 and has been transforming into a residential and entertainment destination. Plans for the new structure call for a four to six story, U-shaped format with 25,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
The 300 new residences will complement the 467 apartments already part of Bella Terra’s master plan, some of which will be affordable. The owners’ next steps include finishing up design and engineering plans, and then getting permits. The new apartments should be ready for move-in by early 2026.
