Amazon has gone public with plans to start work on a 141,000 square foot concrete tilt-up in Robinson Ranch northwest of Austin. The $73 million project is along County Road 172. Amazon’s had the 193-acre parcel since 2021 and received zoning on it in the interim. The north part of the building is slated as a delivery station, where shipments are brought to the building, sorted and loaded up on delivery trucks to take to customers with 50 miles. It’s not clear how the company plans to use the south portion of the property.

The Austin Business Journal reports the project could create over 200 jobs, with construction to start this year and take a year to build.

If the project moves forward, it will add to Amazon’s already large presence in the Austin area. Amazon reported 11,000 employees in the metro in 2023, up from 350 more than five years ago.
