Maine businessman Peter Gerrity is pursuing the construction of a nearly 1 million square foot warehouse in Middleborough, MA., marking a shift from previous redevelopment plans for the property, Boston Business Journal reported.

Initially proposed as a 10-lot industrial park totaling under 400,000 square feet, the new project entails a single 928,000-square-foot facility on a 153-acre parcel. The warehouse project, featuring 156 loading docks and 951 parking spaces, could potentially include a freight train service with proximity to a railway. Construction is slated to commence in early 2025 and conclude by year-end.

Decades ago, Gerrity acquired the property with plans to establish a lumberyard. Operating Gerrity Co., a contractor spanning the Northeast, including Massachusetts, Gerrity acquired real estate related to his business ventures. Gerrity sees the site’s strategic location for distribution, particularly to Cape Cod, as a key advantage.
