After nearly four years of redevelopment planning and 140 years of ownership of the property, AC Development is ready to get moving on Clayworks, a $900 million project in Golden, Colorado. This five-block district will feature office spaces, including the new global headquarters of CoorsTek, a boutique hotel, apartments, and food and beverage options.

From 1910 to 2022, the Clayworks site was home to CoorsTek’s technical ceramics manufacturing and research facilities, not far from the family brewery. Subsequently, most of those operations moved to new facilities elsewhere in Golden.

The Denver office of Holder Construction will build this first phase of Clayworks over approximately two years. The effort includes the demolition of most of the former industrial structures, new infrastructure and public spaces, and a 182,000-square-foot office building that includes the adaptive reuse of two of the oldest buildings on the site.

In addition to the CoorsTek headquarters, the building will be home to other Coors-family companies and another yet-to-be-named office tenant.
