Austin Pickle Ranch opened its first facility eight months ago, and number two just opened. The 50,000-square-foot play space, located at 11000 N. I-35, features 16 courts and an acre dedicated to outdoor volleyball courts from ATX Beach. The owners anticipate between 5,000 and 10,000 players at the venue weekly. Courts are reserved at an hourly rate of $40 during prime hours and $20 in off-peak hours.

The owner, Tom Klitch started up the local pro team, the Texas Ranchers.

Austin is ranked fourth among the top pickleball cities in the United States, behind New York City, Orem, Utah and Scottsdale. Houston and Dallas are in the top 20. 36 million Americans played pickleball last year, by far the fastest growing sport.
