Dominium has closed a deal to acquire 34 acres for the construction of Skyline Flats, a 402-unit affordable housing project in Reno, Nev. This marks the firm’s first development in the state.

Section 42 of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program will support the development of Skyline Flats. Metcalf Builders will construct the community. Freddie Mac, KeyBank, Barclays, Nevada Housing Division and U.S. Bank are some of the other partners that are contributing to the project.

Skyline Flats will rise at 5075 Dandini Blvd. and will feature units with two-, three- and four-bedroom layouts. Shared amenities will include a clubhouse, fitness center, pet park and a playground. Some 4 miles north of downtown Reno, the future property is close to U.S. Route 395 and Nevada State Route 659.

Dominium keeps the affordable pipeline hot

Dominium owns, develops and manages more than 40,000 residential units across 220 communities in the U.S. Earlier this year, the company laid the plans for another affordable community, in Maxwell, Texas. The 312-unit Anson Crossing will be Dominium’s seventh project in the state. Track Ministries and WD Construction will serve as general contractor and prime subcontractor, respectively.

More recently, the company began the necessary preparations for the development of Townhomes on Earley, an affordable build-to-rent community in Casa Grande, Ariz. The 278-unit development is the second of this kind in the company’s portfolio.
